Story

In 2017, six mums to be met at a birthing class in Belper and became close friends. One by one, we all had, and came home with our beautiful babies.

Sophie was last to give birth, but instead of coming home within a few days with her baby, she spent the following month at the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC), Nottingham, whilst they cared for George, who had been born with two rare congenital conditions (Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF) and Oesophageal Atresia (OA); www.tofs.org.uk/about-tof-oa.aspx). Since then, George has undergone 23 operations, some at the QMC in Nottingham and others down at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Being Super George, he obviously has smashed them all, but has more procedures to come.

💙Super George’s Room 💙
Super George's mummy, Super Sophie, has been busy raising money for the hospital that saved her little boy's life. Sophie's aiming to raise £25k to fund a parent’s education and training room in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

At the moment, staff in NICU train parents to care for their babies in whatever space is available, often rooms that are not fit for purpose. Super George's room will provide a nice, warm, welcoming environment for parents of babies with a variety of complex issues.
