Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just giving page!
I am still a little unsure as to why I am doing this - I have never run anything like 13.5 miles (6 until very recently was my maximum!) and I have never raised such a large some of money by myself but both are worthy causes!
The money raised will go to the Post-Adoption Centre, a charity close to my heart. As an adoptee who is lucky enough to have found her biological family and consequently have two families (and yes that does make Christmas tricky!) I know how important it is to both adopted and those giving up children for adoption to recieve support and understanding.
The Post-Adoption Centre provides independent advice, counselling and support to anyone dealing with the challenges and opportunities of adoption, including adoptive and long-term foster families, birth mothers and other birth relatives and adopted adults and young people. Its origins were in a growing recognition that adoption isn't always a neat happy ending, and often brings specific problems of its own.
I am lucky enough to have a very happy ending and a healthy wonderful relationship with both my biological family and adoptive family - and if I can contribute towards others being helped albeit only a little bit plus lose a few pounds along the way (and possibly my sanity) then that is nothing but a good thing.
I really have done nothing like this before and if I achieve it within 3 hours without doing myself some serious damage I will be over the moon. You don't have to give alot, anything will do but it really would be wonderful to reach the target that the PAC have set me which is £750.
Thankyou in advance.
