In September 2016  David Greaves, the son of dear friends of ours,  died of Motor Neurone Disease, aged 31.

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease affecting the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement and can leave victims unable to move talk and eventually breathe. MND kills five people every day in the UK, half within 14 months of diagnosis, affecting up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. There is no cure

Throughout the short time David was ill  he showed incredible strength and determination to continue to live his life to the full despite the impact of his worsening condition. In December 2015 David and his wife Philippa climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. This was an amazing achievement and inspiration to me in my climb of Kilimanjaro in January 2017. In September 2017 I ran the Great North Run as part of the 2Fingers2MND team, and for two years I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon. Last year I ran a Virtual Great North Run and this year I am doing the real GNR on 12 September in Newcastle.

David and his family and friends have raised nearly £100,000 for MND who provided great support to David during his illness. I set myself a target to raise £3000 to support the work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This will be my fifth half marathon for David and with your help I will reach my target.
