East Cheshire Hospice Midnight Walk 2012 · 30 June 2012

East Cheshire Hospice provides essential care, support and compassion to local adults facing life limiting illnesses. We rely on fundraising to pay for over 80% of our daily costs, and so you can be sure your support will make a huge difference to our patients, their families and loved ones.

Story

<div><span> <div>Hi, we're Lucy, Rick, Alison, Jo &amp; Rick, thanks for visiting our just giving site! On Saturday 30th June 2012 we're all taking part in the 10K Midnight Walk in aid of East Cheshire Hospice in Macclesfield.</div> <div>East Cheshire Hospice provides special care for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses for which there is no cure. They care for people, aiming to meet all their needs, whether they are medical, emotional or spiritual or around the challenges of daily-living. They also support families and carers throughout.</div> <div>Last year, the hospice had 335 admissions into the In-patient Unit and 2,270 attendances in the Day Care Centre.</div> <div>As a registered charity, all services provided are completely free of charge to all patients. However, the hospice receives less than 23% of their annual costs from government and so has to fundraise almost &pound;6,000 every single day of the year simply to maintain its current service.</div> <div>This charity is all the more poignant because Alison's husband and Jo and Lucy's dad (not forgetting 12 year old little Eddie), Simon Cartwright, received specialist end of life care here as a result of a brain tumour before passing away on 26 March 2012. Therefore it seems all the more appropriate to give something back to this amazing charity which we are lucky to have at our doorstep.</div> <div>As a family, we hope to raise &pound;6,000 through various charitable events over the coming months in order to pay to keep the hospice 'open' for one day as a token of our thanks to those who run the charity. Any donations, no matter how small, make a difference.</div> <div>As a special thanks we would like to say a massive thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, volunteers and other staff who helped Simon live comfortably as well as caring for us all as a family. There are unfortunately too many names to name but everyone has been unbelievably kind. We also wish to send our love to all of the patients and their families who we met along the way. May you find strength and happiness. And finally, thank you to you for visiting our Just Giving site and for any donation to help us reach our target to keep the hospice open for that one day.</div> <div><span>All our Love.</span></div> <div>Lucy Cartwright, Richard Peck, Alison Cartwright, Jo Cartwright &amp; Richard Delooze (and little Eddie Cartwright) x</div> </span></div>
