Building a school in rural South Africa · 11 October 2016

Our life-changing research can fight diseases, tackle global challenges and change society. At Nottingham, students from all backgrounds can achieve extraordinary things, in and out of the classroom. But talent needs a catalyst. You can shape the future and help make the incredible happen, every day

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am an architecture student from the University of Nottingham and I'm working in a team to design and build a school in the Letsitele Valley of Limpopo, South Africa. It is one of the poorest, least developed parts of the country, with high levels of unemployment.

Your donation will help provide a bright, clean and safe environment for teaching basic skills, games and music to village children from under one year old to seven years old. It will also provide employment for the local women who teach in the créche, cook meals, wipe noses and sing and play with the kids.

We pride ourselves on spending as much of our fundraising locally in the communities around the villages we build in - we have no big salaries or expensive offices to fund. over 90% of funds raised last year were spent on materials, tools, subcontracted works and project logistics associated with daily transport to the site. Students pay for their own flights and accommodation

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
