We offer care, support and information to anyone affected by breast cancer

Story

Dear All,

You are probably more than already aware that since Christmas I have putting myself through the pain of training for the Edinburgh Marathon.  So far I have learned that contact lenses, compeed and camelbaks are all vital training kit and that shin splints hurt a lot!  My training schedule has required me to run 2 x 10K per week and one long run each week - so far I'm up to 19 miles.  I've also enlisted a personal trainer who has picked my diet to pieces and forbidden me to drink more than 1 cup of coffee a day and eliminate anything sugary and fun!

Now that the the 23rd of May draws near, it's now time to start the other important preparation of fundraising.

I've chosen to run for Breast Cancer Care as unfortunately this is something that has affected my family as well as thousands of people across the World.  I lost my Aunty Mary last year after a long battle to breast cancer and so I continue to run and fundraise in her memory.

Breast Cancer Care want every person affected by breast cancer to get the best treatment, information and support.

What We do

We combine the personal experiences of people affected by breast cancer with clinical expertise, using this in a unique way to:

  • provide information and offer emotional and practical support
  • bring people affected by breast cancer together
  • campaign for improvement in standards of support and care
  • promote the importance of early detection.

How we work

  • We focus our work on the unique experience of each individual affected by breast cancer
  • We involve people with breast cancer in all that we do
  • We use our understanding of the emotional and practical issues facing people affected by breast cancer alongside our clinical expertise.
