The Gobi March is a 250km physical challenge set over 7 days in China.... It's nothing compared to the physical challenges my childhood friend Olivia deals with everyday of her life...
CF is the most common, life
threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children, and one
of most of the most common in the
and
. It affects a number of organs in the body -especially the lungs and pancreas
and the main issues affect breathing and digestion. It basically affects everything one needs to survive !
You would never know Liv has CF;
She's a blonde-hair-blue-eyed girl with a witty sense of humour and more than
her share of the nerd organ! Liv is operating her own clinic as a psychologist
specialising in eating disorders (www.shapeyourmind.com) and at present is fighting fit! (Despite having pleurisy
3 times this year!)
Liv's attitude to life is exemplary; The tenacity one requires to deal with CF
day to day is simply radical; the hospital visits are frequent, maintenance is
never ending and every breath is still borrowed as there is no cure.
OLIVIA IS ALIVE & ROCKING AT AGE 29 & I'd like to show my support to her by raising money for
further research into a cure for CF!! Thanks in advance for all your support... it will help me across the line each day... and more importantly, it will help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
The Gobi March will take place 27 June - 4 July 2010. It is a 250km course through the Gobi desert in China. I will send you details of my blog so you can follow my progress.
