Story

Have a look at this video of my story on BBC Look East

On the 17th April 2011 I ran the Virgin London Marathon in aid of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust or BIRT (part of The Disabilities Trust) to raise funds to help people that find themselves in a similar situation. I'm really pleased with my finishing time as I absolutely smashed my goal of 5 hours with a time of 04:24:44. It's not too late to donate as this page doesn't close until the 10th July, so please be generous and help me give something back to BIRT.

In February 2008 whilst at university, I was involved in a serious car accident (see photos). As well as physical injuries, I also sustained a traumatic brain injury. After 10 weeks in hospital it was clear I needed further help and was transferred to Fen House in Ely, one of the centres of The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.

It is important to receive targeted therapy as soon as possible in the aftermath of a brain injury and I have nothing but praise for BIRT for the outstanding neurorehabilitative help that they gave me in this crucial period. Thanks to this help I managed to go back to university and complete my degree with support from the tutors there liaising with BIRT. I am still having ongoing help for my injury and hope that eventually the consequences of it will affect my life as little as possible.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
