Story
I am running the Great North Run for my Dad, Gary Parkinson, who suffered a stroke just over a year ago in September 2010. As a result of the stroke my Dad, has been left with Locked-in Syndrome, which is a condition of almost paralysis apart from eye movements. My Dad was a former professional footballer, who made just short of 500 apperances for Middlesbrough, Southend, Bolton, Burnley, Preston and Blackpool, where he was Head of Youth up until having his stroke.
So please help me in raising money for the Stroke Association, who help and advise the families and sufferers of stroke, through a very tough period in thier lives. So please donate as much as possible to a very worth cause, which is very much appreciated in these financial tough times, but you never know when you may need to rely on these kinds of charities. Please help NOW!
• Over 130,000 people have a stroke in the UK each year.
• There are 87,700 first strokes and 53,700recurrent strokes.
• This is equivalent to someone having a stroke every five minutes.
