Friends,

I've been involved with the Fireflies for 5 years, having completed the Fireflies West Ride 3 times and having raised over $30,000 for City of Hope -- I'm just starting out.  This year, I'll be riding from Geneva to Cannes through the French Alps to raise money for Bloodwise.  

Cancer causes approximately 8.8 Million deaths per year.  It touches our families and friends with indiscretion and rips loved ones from our arms.  The emotional and physical damage it causes radiates through generations.  

Over the next 20 years, new cancer cases are expected to rise by 50% worldwide.  We have a duty to our species to increase our efforts and do whatever we can to band together to fight against all types of cancer.  At particular risk are those individuals living in developing countries where cancer mortality rates can be as high as 70%.  

I'm riding to help raise money for research that will help save loved ones and strangers alike.  I'm riding for the friends and family members that I've lost to cancer.  I'm riding for all the people who are living healthy lives today but who will eventually be diagnosed with the disease.
