Story
My cousin, Jack is an amazing street dancer, camper, comedian and monster truck nut - he also has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and at 8 years old needs to have rests in between his antics and will take it easy for a while in his suped up wheel chair...
I will cycle alone - 130kms or so a day for 21 days through NZ - to raise awareness for Action Duchenne. DMD is a debilitating disease that steadily cripples youngsters like Jack to the point that they are released from their pain possibly in their early 20s... some are not so fortunate and leave us - literally, painfully young.
I am doing this for my cousin and all of his pals... to highlight the efforts that Action Duchenne are involved in to try and find a cure. We hope that these children and young people can benefit now but the reality may be that future generations will be the ones who can walk into their adulthood and live long and full lives.
Jack is so full of life and fun - his Mum and Dad are amazing and make sure they all have great camping trips in their combi and all of our family love seeing Jack's exploits... some pictured here - from around the world via facebook ....
We all love you Jack... Everyone, please support Action Duchenne and the youngsters - and I ask if you would sponsor me in the big cycle... I will have Jack in my heart throughout the 2000 miles. He will be with me on every hill and every turn of the wheel.
Thank you so much,
Luke
