<p>Hello Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms or Dr</p>
<p>Thank You for taking the time to visit mine and Tom's Just giving page.</p>
<p>In February 2012 myself and Tom will be taking part in a Trek from one side of Costa Rica to the other. Crossing from the Pacific Coast right across the country to the Caribbean Coast.</p>
<p>Just incase your picturing golden sands, palm tree's, rum and coke, hammocks and Bob Marley playing in the background, i'll give you a rough idea of what we're going to be doing.</p>
<p>Firstly we'll fly out to San Jose the Capital of Costa Rica.Then its off to the Central Pacific Coast to start our journey.</p>
<p>Then its 9 days of long trekking ( Roughly 7 hours per day ) finished off with some white water rafting until we reach the other side of the Country on the Carribean coast.</p>
<p>We'll be walking through very rough terrain in very damp conditions, aswell as walking through and camping in the Rainforest. Home to some of the worlds most poisones Snakes,Spiders and Frogs! Aswell as this we'll have to cope with some very difficult climbs including a walk to the top of a Volcano. Plus theres the humidity which means lots of sweating...nice.</p>
<p>Almost every night will be spent in a tent so its going to be far from easy especially for 2 lads who havent got much trekking experience to say the least.</p>
<p>We're doing this for 3 great Charities. Nightingale House Hospice, Alzheimers Society and Hospice of the Good Shepherd.</p>
<p>Nightingale House provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.<br><br>Services include a 16 bed inpatient ward, a 15 patient daycare unit, an outpatient clinic, a specialist lymphodema unit, occupational therapy, complementary therapies, physiotherapy including a hydrotherapy pool and an ambulance service. A range of bereavement support services are offered including a specialist service for children and young adults.</p>
<h3>Mission Statement</h3>
<p>To provide a specialist palliative care service for patients with specific life-limiting illness living within the catchment area of North East Wales Trust and the border areas and to support their families in a caring environment. This will be undertaken by a specialist trained multi-disciplinary team who will provide symptom control, assessment, terminal care, and on-going emotional support for relatives and carers, bereavement support, education and information.</p>
<p>I've seen first hand the kind of help that Nightingale House provides to its patients and there relatives after losing my Grandma in 2010 after her long battle with Cancer. The care recieved is absolutley brilliant and is amazing given the fact they run mainly on donations and volunteers. Thanks to Nightingale House my Grandma was able to pass away peacefully with constant medication and care from the wonderful staff. The exact same can be said for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd we're my girlfriends Grandad also unfortunatley passed away last year with Cancer. He also recieved the best care possible from all the staff at the hospice who do an amazing job.</p>
<p>So for these reasons i'd like to make as much money as possible for these charities in order to give something back for all that they've done for us and other's in our situation.</p>
<p>Our target is £8,000 which we are hoping to raise through fundraising events and peoples kind generosity.</p>
<p>This will be split between the 3 Charities. So by donating on this site or Toms site your donation will be split between the 3 Charities as the money raised offline will be used in order to make sure that they are at the same level. ( Hope that makes sense?)</p>
