Story
'Fatty Fox doing a marathon?' I hear you ask.
Surely not? The poor boy is far too fat and unfit.
Yes, this maybe the case and I have inadvertently chosen one of the toughest marathons to attempt - The Cornish Marathon. The course is set on ridiculously hilly roads and ends with a very tough 4 mile hill at the end. Brilliant - I cannot wait.
I have trained reasonably hard but have not given up smoking or anything crazy like that so my goal is purely to finish it, get to the end and never run again.
So why do this?
On October 5th 2008 my brother Christian suddenly passed away at the tragically young age of just 35. His death was a massive, massive shock and one that I am unsure I will ever come to terms with or truly accept. It has left my family, all of his friends and me personally, completely devastated.
After his death it became apparent that Christian would actively work to encourage run-away teenagers who would seek his advice to return home and resolve any issues that they may have, away from the streets and in a safer environment. Missing people is a charity that also helps to achieve this goal and is a charity that I believe my brother would want to help. Running 26 miles one Sunday morning seems to pale into insignificance in comparison to the advice my brother would give to people in dreadfully difficult circumstances and the wonderful work that this charity do on a daily basis.
Any money that you can afford to donate, no matter how small or large, will be gratefully received and make that 4 mile hill at the end just that bit easier.
I thank you in advance.
