Luzio Treks Arctic Circle, Greenland 2018

HSBC Arctic Challenge 2018 · 3 August 2018 to 10 August 2018 ·
Here I go again...back in October 2016, I trekked 100KM across the Gobi in Mongolia in subzero conditions. 100 people, 100 KM of the Gobi - self funded and self fundraised, in support of WaterAid. We raised over $300,000 as a group and we're back at it !!
After I returned from Mongolia, I realized how our efforts globally need to accelerate in order to improve access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene. I began to get more involved in WaterAid's programs and joined their Board of Directors in February 2017. In November 2017, I journeyed to La Guajira, Colombia to see WaterAid's pre and post intervention projects in an area with a population of over 1mm, where less than 16% have access to clean water, and 4% to sanitation. This is just one example of the areas we serve - and the areas that need OUR help. To do more, do give more and to educate more.
In August of 2018, I will be trekking 100KM of the Arctic Circle in Greenland. Why would I do this again? This time in one of the most isolated spots on Earth, hiking 62 miles, no access to showers, toilets, or vehicle support? The answer is still as easy as it was when I trekked the Gobi - It's to support a great organization - WaterAid - who helps transform lives with access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation across the world!
My fundraising goal in 2017 was $10K and I hit over $18K thanks to all my supporters out there. For the Arctic, my target is $20,000! Please support me in my cause - www.wateraid.org. There are 100 of us trekking and your help will go a long way!
