Sparky (was Skipper) ended up becoming a Niziblian officially in June 2013. He is now just over a year old. We're very lucky to have him as part of our family!  He's had his own health scares this year, and knows he's very lucky to be here. Sparky loves coming to FP events when he can, he is excellent at high fives, kisses & cuddles. He's keen to raise funds for his other Four Paws chums, who still need rescuing, fostering and finding their own family who will love them forever. Please help.

May 2013

Skye was a heavily pregnant lab x, abandoned just days before giving birth.  Four Paws took her in, and she gave birth in a fab foster home, where she was safe, warm and loved.  She had 8 boy puppies (one of which is the profile picture here). Sadly one tiny fella didn't make it, but the others (and Skye herself) are all well, happy and rehomed. 

Unfortunately, on top of Skye, we have had a two further very pregnant dogs handed in.  As you can imagine, the vet bills and costs of getting mama dogs safely through their pregnancies and births and raising their pups are pretty horrific. Please help us with a donation to keep helping these lovely lot find happiness with a family who will love and care for them forever.

 

Update May 2013

Our last 3 foster pups (Scroobius Pup, Gunter and Bryn) all found lovely forever homes, and trotted happily off to their new lives.  We have got two new, very gorgeous house-guests arriving this Saturday.  Unfortunately they won't be able to make an appearance at our Spring Fair (this Sat 18th) as they are too little, and have not had any of their vaccinations yet, but pictures soon.

If you are free 2-4.30 - we'll be at Tongwynlais Village Hall, come and meet some of our dogs needing homes, buy plants, cakes, tea, gifts, and come and talk to me about fostering, what it means, what it involves, and why you CAN give them up! :-)

Update Jan 2013:

Fab news, Asha spent Christmas is his forever home! He had come on so well, and an absolutely perfect home came up for him. He is now looking at spending the rest of his life having the love and care he needs and deserves. Four Paws will continue to cover any costs relating to his condition. Thank you ALL for helping him come so far.

We'll be in Lush at Queen Stree Cardiff on January 19th (Saturday) from 12-4. Please come and say hi, meet some of the dogs, and find out how you can help (from baking cakes to fostering!)

 

 Update Nov: Asha continues to grow and continues to be fab. He'll have a big check up in December to see what his prognosis is. He now has a foster sister, Jesse, a seven month old American bulldog x boxer. Jesse lost one of her legs in an accident a couple of months ago, but it doesn't slow her down! She is gorgeous and a good girly, and helps keep Asha wearm with lots of snoozes cuddled up.

Update Oct:Asha is now with us in foster, and is now awaiting an operation to have a shunt fitted in his head. It's another hugely costly process, so your continued support is massively appreciated.

Update Sept.

We have two lovely foster pups (Biggie and Sarah) with us at the mo, but the dog on all our minds is little Asha (see my main pic)

Asha has come into Four Paws care following a phone call from one of our vets where he was booked in to be put to sleep.

He was born with hydrocephalus or fluid on the brain which means that he has limited vision - at first we thought that he was completely blind but his behaviour and play shows that he does have some sight - his head is mis-shapen where the fluid is creating pressure and he is likely to have some brain damage.

Some people would say that he would be better off put to sleep as he faces an uncertain future but we have learnt from Anya (another FP dog given weeks to live with this condition that is still doing brilliantly 3 years on) that dogs with hydrocephalus can go on to live a full and happy life and we believe he, the same as all our dogs, deserves the very best chance we can give him.

The next step is for Asha to see a Neurologist and have an MRI scan at Langford. After that we will know more about his options for treatment, if any, and what the future will hold for him.

The cost for the scan alone is £1400 and on top of that will be the consultation, feedback report plus any treatment.

He's utterly gorgeous little chap. I spent last Sunday giving him lots of cuddles. He gets a good 'look' at you by feeling your face gently with his paws and mouth, and loved playing with our foster pups. Update Aug:

Chou Chou has now gone to her forever home! We are delighted - her new family are very lovely, and Chou Chou has an older 'sister' dog, who she is already smitten with. Chou Chou's new family visited her with us, and at the fab St David's Vets many times before the big day and she was so excited to see them when they came to collect her. She has gone from a badly injured, totally terrified puppy on her arrival, to a confident, happy and healthy dog, and shows how well Four Paws works. She will continue with physio now in her forever home, and prognosis is that she should get almost full use of her injured leg back.

We're having a tiny foster break until the Bank Holiday, and will no doubt have new hairy lodgers to update you on very soon. xx

Update July: Chou Chou's foster sister Petal has gone to her new home, and a new foster will be arriving today. Chou Chou is doing well, she is scheduled to have the remaining pins removed from her leg over the next couple of weeks. She continues to be the perfect house guest, and is a total sweetheart. Payments directly to the vets treating Chou Chou (and many other Four Paws dogs) are still welcome if you prefer to donate by phone. Details further down. I am a jewellery maker/designer, mum of two, and my family foster dogs for Four Paws Animal Rescue, a South Wales based charity. We decided to foster after meeting some of the dogs looking for homes at one of the many Four Paws meet 'n' greets. We began fostering in late July 2011, and have since been blessed with many lovely hairy lodgers in their search for their perfect forever home.

All the money raised for Four Paws makes a huge difference, and literally saves the lives of animals who would otherwise be euthanased. I hope you will contribute to the fantastic work Four Paws does.

May News: Our latest foster puppy we named Chou Chou (French for little darling). She's a 12 week old beagle x collie. She's very timid, and scared of lots of things, but incredibly loving and sweet. Sadly Chou Chou hasn't had the best start, and we noticed as well as a lesion on her side, she had a deformed front leg. It transpires that Chou Chou's ulna and radius in her leg had fractured at some point, and been left to heal by themselves. They have not healed correctly, and Chou Chou now needs serious corrective surgery. She will need many months recovery - we will give her all the love and care she needs while this is ongoing. However, the surgery and aftercare is incredibly expensive. If you can help - (and every penny really does help), please do. Four Paws will make sure Chou Chou receives the care she needs, but your help makes all the difference.
