My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So, I know you're probably all thinking that a 5K isn't really worth sponsoring, but those who know me well will understand that this is a big deal as I've never taken part in a race before and about a year ago I could barely run 5 metres, let alone 5K!

The other reason you should sponsor me is that I'm doing this for the lovely charity I work for, The Sick Children's Trust. They provide accommodation at specialist children's hospitals so that parents and families can stay near their child while they are being treated. It helps to keep families together as a whole during a really stressful time in their lives, which anyone who has ever had a prolonged hospital stay, or had a sick child can tell you is immeasurable. It's quite a small charity and unless you've been unfortunate to need their services, chances are you won't have heard of them. Plus they don't receive any government funding so they really do need all the cash they can get.

On top of helping a very worthy cause and keeping lots of kiddies happy, you will also make me very popular amongst my mates at work and you'll experience that warm fuzzy feeling inside, safe in the knowledge that you've made the world an ever so slightly better place - so everyone's a winner!

Also if anyone wants to come and cheer me on/laugh at me during my first race attempt, head on over to Clapham Common on Sunday 4th March at aruond 10:00am

Now thanks to some new-fangled technology, you can also text me a donation (fancy that!) Just text LYDS85 followed by the amount you want to donate (up to £10 at a time) to 70700. It's completely free and we get 100% of the donation!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
