My name is Lynda Strain at the age of 25 I was diagnosed with Cancer. I had to endure 12 gruelling sessions of chemotherapy, this was not the road I thought I would ever be on, it was a very traumatising period in my life but I am now 4years in remission and I have a totally different outlook on life and have decided that I want to help people who are less fortunate than I have been, which is why my friend Anne Mc Keown and I are participating in “The Colorado Cowboy Challenge 2011” for Southern Area Hospice Services in September. This will consist of working on a ranch for 1 week and will involve working from 6am to 8pm each day participating in all ranch and farm duties including mucking out stables herding cattle, ranch maintenance and the daily cattle drive, a lot of this will be on horse back for which we are currently training in western style riding to prepare for the task ahead.
I would appreciate your support as we need to raise £3,500 each. To raise the funds that we need, we are having a fun filled night of entertainment called Vibrance in the Canal Court Hotel Newry on the 28 August 2011, tickets are priced at £15 and we hope to have 300 people in attendance on the night. However we will still have more money to raise and we are hoping to do this by having an auction and also a raffle and we would appreciate any help by way of donation or voucher/prize for the night.
