Story
Hi everyone,
I am fundraising for a charity that is very close to my heart. Acorns Hospice has had a huge impact on me and my family.
On February 1st 2012, my beautiful niece, Ayla Hope, was born. Her parents knew she wouldn't be here for long as she was diagnosed as having Edwards syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects about 1 in 4000 babies.
Ayla bravely fought for 70 hours but took her last breath on 4th February 2012 in her mummy's arms.
Acorns Hospice has been a place of sanctuary, support and love for Ayla, her mummy, daddy, brother and all of her extended family. We all feel so privileged to have met her. She was a very special little girl.
Acorns is a charity that run hospices that look after life limited children and their families. They are amazing. If anyone ever has to go through losing a child, which should never happen, this place you can truly be yourself. You can laugh, cry, share, grieve and start to heal. The staff become friends and are there for you as long as you need them to be.
Myself and my family will be doing the walk to Worcestershire on 1st July, a 10.5 mile walk for Acorns Hospice. I am then going to be running the Birmingham Half Marathon in October with Ayla's daddy, my incredible brother.
If you can, please donate. Acorns rely on fundraising to be able to run.
