Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Its ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families to help make every moment count.

Story

As CEO of the hospice, I know how important it is that we have a new hospice.  The hospice we are building is really, really super.  I know that it cannot be built without the financial support of our community and although I support it in other ways, I felt that doing a trek would be a very visible way for me to show my commitment to the new hospice.  I also wanted to show my gratitude for the care that the hospice has given to family members and friends. I am very proud to be part of the hospice and very grateful to all the people who have made donations to support  the new hospice.  I climbed steep sand dunes in the heat and with the sensation of trying to go up, a descending escalator.  I climbed a mountain, battled through a sandstorm and camped out in the desert. I did it with an incredible bunch of people and despite 'the loo situation', the lack of washing facilities and the extremes of temperature, it was a great experience.
