Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

Who am I fundraising for:

I'm raising money for Quarriers - a scottish based social care charity.

Quarriers offers the most diverse range of services in Scotland.  They offer support and care for:

  • Adults and children with a physical or learning disability;
  • Children and families facing poverty, family breakdown, exclusion and disadvantage;
  • Young people who find it difficult to cope with mainstream school or with growing up;
  • Homeless young people experiencing exclusion, lack of self-esteem and a multitude of other daily problems;
  • People with epilepsy requiring assessment, diagnosis and support for their condition; and
  • Carers of all ages needing support, advice or just a friend to listen to them.

What am I doing to raise money:

I'm treking up Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Standing at an impressive 5,895m over the African plains, Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's highest free-standing mountain and also, one the world's seven highest continental summits.  Treking up the Lemosho route, through the rainforest to the spectacular Shira Plateau, past the Lava Tower and finally, reach the summit, snowy Uhuru Peak.

I'm leaving 15th September 2010 and I'm looking to raise as much money as possible before then.

Thanks to my team at NAG who raised over £100 taking part in our weight loss challenge.

Thanks to my workmates at NAG who raised £240 for me by holding a coffee and cake morning.

Thanks to The Kilt Centre in Hamilton for donating £500.

Thanks to Antonia & Steph for helping organise a run a series of charity nights.  Good luck girls with your climb and fundraising next year!  And thanks to all my friends and family who came along to the events.
