Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myself and my sister are aiming to climb the height of Mount Everest (8848m) by climbing our local hill Dumyat (418m) 22 times throughout the month of May. In doing so We hope to raise funds to help with what is required for the people of Nepal to recover from such a devastating earthquake.

In October 2014  we were privileged to reach Everest base camp meeting many Nepalese people along the way. Many of the Nepalese have a very very basic quality of living even in the cities but are very resourceful people. It is a huge effort to get basic supplies to the outlying villages some trekking days with loads of up to 100kg on their backs. The devastation that the recent earthquake has caused within the city of Kathmandhu, Pokhara, surrounding areas and into the mountain villages (some of which we passed through) and base camp itself is immense. We would like to give these very caring, friendly and resourceful people a chance in recovering from this horror.

We have recently found out that Lila Poudel, the guide of two of friends from our trip to Everest base camp in 2014, is safe in Kathmandu. Unfortunately him and his father have lost their houses and all possessions. Lila's wife gave birth to their daughter the day after the earthquake. They are a family of five with nothing but each other. We know we may not be able Lila and his family directly from the money we raise but if at least one family in a similar situation can be helped, it will all be worthwhile. We hope you will be able to support us in this challenge.

Thanks very much Lynzie 😊 xx
