Working alongside Emmy Coates has been such a privilege. Going into her classroom each morning and hearing about how her fairytale romance was progressing was always very exciting and started the day off perfectly :) Alongside the stories of romance, her health started to make an appearance, but no matter how bad things got Emmy would always battle through.

About a year ago those mean symptoms ended up with her being diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer, which sadly then spread into other organs and she was told she had a 20% chance of surviving for 5 years. 

Since receiving the news, Emmy and Jake have done all that they can to raise money for the Royal Marsden, to help find cures for other cancer patients. Both have been remarkable and I have been blown away with all the fund raising they have achieved together.

Emmy, such a beautiful, inspiring human being who would do absolutely anything for you, whose smile is so infectious, whose positivity through all this crap has shone through.... I do this for you in the hope that one day there will be a cure for this horrible disease.

On Sunday 19th March, a group of teachers at our school want to show support for Emmy by walking the Marsden March, 14 miles.
