Every day I work with young people who are passionate individuals and often with a great sense of humour. These are young people who are putting out their hands for help, so that they can be given the opportunity to change their own lives for the better. I see it every day these young people do not want to repeat the mistakes made by their parents, and just want the chance to be like everyone else. Each young person is different and brings a different challenge, but this is why I am proud to do the work I do.
This is why I want to take on the biggest challenge of my life so far, and reach the summit of Kilimanjaro in March 2012. I wanted to pick a challenge that was exactly that, a challenge. From my research it is a challenge that a lot of people do not complete, due to the many challenging aspects of the climb. I am going to have to put a lot of work into this challenge, as I need to give myself the best chance of completing it. I am hoping that any young person seeing me attempt this, and watching the hard work I will undoubtedly have to put in, will be inspired by the fact that any challenge can be achieved with support and determination.
