My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
No doubt you already know what we are doing but in case you dont .... We have booked ourselves onto runnning the Marathon Des Sables in 2013..... brilliant.
The MDS covers 151 miles and is run over 6 days; it’s a grueling race. Set in the Moroccan desert, around 1000 competitors from 30 countries take part every year. Competitors carry all their own food and equipment themselves.
Sounds crazy right?!! You're right it is, but we all like a good challenege and this one seems to be the toughest out there so jumped at the chance to get a place!!
We will be hosting a number of charity events over this year and next so keep a keen eye around the club and on all the usual social networks. The charity events will include:
Zumbathon
Burpie Challenge
Plane Pull
Charity gig
Bootcamps
And probably loads more, get stuck in and have a laugh!!
A message from Simon:
Firstly I would just like to personally thank everyones for all their time and effort over the last couple of years with all the fund raising. I am extremely lucky to have so many thoughtful people around me and hope that there will be just as much interest from you all this coming year ;) . Secondly Id like to thank Fred and Becky for coming on this mad challenge with me, its going to be tough but im sure we'll smash it!!
This cause PKD means the world to me, I love doing as much as I can to keep the funds going their way. My dad has the condition and has been to hell and back over the last 20 years, this man is a true example of courage. No matter how bad he was feeling he would still always keep smiling and make sure he helped as many people as he could, majority of the time before himself. He is a true hero!
I know this seems so soon after my last donation run.... we have been given an amazing opportunity by The Polycistic Kidney Charity to run the infamous Marathon Des Sable and hope to do everything I can to make them proud and of course Papa G-Wood.
