Abseil Challenge - Mersey Tunnel Ventilation Shaft · 27 September 2009

We support people with myasthenia and their families, increase public and medical awareness of the condition and raise funds for research and support staff. Our aim is to make life easier for people with myasthenia and their families by providing information, advice and support.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. On Sunday 27th September 2009, I will be completing an abseil (the first abseil I will have done!) of the Mersey Tunnel Ventilation Shaft in Birkenhead for The Myasthenia Gravis Association, a charity that means a great deal to me and my family.

Myasthenia Gravis is a life threatening muscle weakness disease which has sadly affected the life of a close family member for the past 5 years.

The body's immune system, in the form of antibodies, attacks and damages the nerve signal reception areas causing a breakdown in communication between nerve and muscle, which results in a loss of effectiveness of the muscle.

At present, there is no known cure for Myasthenia Gravis, however, Oxford based research financed by the MG Association promises a breakthrough in the not too distant future. So any donation, large or small, can really make the difference we need and will be appreciated greatly by both myself and my family.

Many thanks for your support!
