Story
Michelle is the partner of a great friend of mine, she is 43 years old and has Myeloma cancer. She truly is outgoing and fun and that this should happen to her is devastating not only to her many friends but especially to her two children and partner.
Myeloma is an increasing common cancer of the plasma cells. Plasma cells are found in the bone marrow and are responsible for protecting the body against infection. There is no such thing as a good cancer but the treatment for this particular cancer appears to be less developed than for many of the better known forms of cancer and, at the present time, there is no cure although current treatments can be effective at halting myeloma cancer for longer and improving the quality of life.
After a difficult stem cell operation and some weeks in intensive care the cancer in Michelle has been halted.
Myself and 5 friends including her partner are endeavouring to raise awareness and money for Myeloma UK to help them find better ways of diagnosing and treating Myeloma. We are organising a cycle ride from Hextable in Kent to Lands End starting on the 2nd June, we expect to take 6 days.
Barclays Bank have kindly agreed to double any money I personally raise up to £750 so if you feel able please donate whatever amount you are comfortable with.
Thank you
