Story

"There is no person who does not have the obligation of doing charity every day that the sun rises."

Muhammad (pbuh)

This December, I'll be walking 80km across war-torn Iraq for three days (from Najaf to Karbala). I will be walking in the daytime with the scorching desert sun bearing down upon me and in the evenings will rest in makeshift tents, when the blistering cold takes over and temperatures rapidly plummet. BUT our troubles are nothing compared to those we are raising the money for:

£150 - PAYS for the fabrication and maintenance of one solar lantern in a poor rural household – Just £2/km of the walk

£300 - PAYS for the installation and maintenance of one fixed solar lighting unit in a rural non-electrified household – Just £4/km of the walk

£600 - TRAINS 4 people to install and maintain solar panels for
households in 6 months – Just £8/km of the walk

*Note: The charity we are using has no administrative costs: 100% of all donations go towards this project*

'Do not feel ashamed if the amount of charity is small
because to refuse the needy is an act of greater shame'

Ali bin Abu Talib (AS)
