Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have always wanted to run a marathon. I normally just run 5km. The occasional 8km but it's time to go big or go home.
Goals
To help me reach my charity goals I am going to set some targets (...and more great targets will come in the new year!):
- First 30 people to donate will get their names printed on a tshirt or arm sleeves that I will wear during the race so you will get represented on race day and I will donate £50 of my own money towards the fundraising
- If there are 100 unique tweets with the hash tag #MikeRunsLdn2012, I will donate £50 of my own money towards the fundraising
- If there are 100 likes on Facebook, I will donate £50 of my own money towards the fundraising
Background Story
As some of you know, I was about to leave the UK in the fall of 2011. At the beginning of the year I was all ready to leave, but in the back of my mind I always said that if I was gonna stay in London longer that I was going to run the marathon. I said this thinking that staying in London was not really possible. Funny how things change in life. When mid year came around some positive changes came into my world both professionally and socially which made it worthwhile to stay in the UK a bit longer. So here I am now running 42.2 km.
Why Charity?
I am doing a charity run because all of the ballot spots for the marathon have been filled but this has been a blessing in disguise. Supporting Whizz Kidz is a great cause. They help out disabled children and their families by giving them group support and helping them learn to move and play like kids.
