Story
Mike drove in 20 of the annual Rhino Charges (the fund raising event for the Trust), only retiring after he was certain that sufficient funds had been raised to complete the 400 km fence around the Aberdares. Even then he only stopped because he felt that he shouldn’t hog one of the limited number of places in this daft event, when there were so many other young madcaps (sorry - enthusiastic drivers) just itching to have a go.
He really believed in the cause and thoroughly enjoyed the event. He was an ace fund-raiser – as many of you know to your cost! He spent many, many hours working on trying to raise more money than we had raised in the previous year. He usually succeeded! He and I then let off steam by having fun in the Rhino Charge itself.
Last year at the end of August Mike and I attended the ceremony for the planting of the final post in the fence around the Aberdares which, as it turned out, was to be the last function that Mike attended as he died suddenly, of massive cancer that none of us was aware he had, on the day after his 79th birthday.
The fence might be finished but it must be maintained and the fund raising will have to continue. So, in memory of my wonderful husband Mike, please give generously for an excellent cause. Your money will be used wisely.
Thank you
Sarah
