Story
I finished - please support me
& help the street children of NairobiOn Sunday 6th September, I finished the 2009 Monaco Half Ironman Triathlon, a 1.9
km swim, 90 km cycle and 21.1 km run. My
time was 6 hours 45 minutes; a minute & a half slower than last year. It was a wonderful experience, made special by
the encouragement of many people including family (Margaret, Koren & Aidan were
there cheering me on) and friends, some of whom also competed.
I am so grateful for the support received. With the help of the Karibuni Trust, a UK
based charity, all monies raised will be donated directly to the Shangilia
school in Nairobi, Kenya. Shangilia was
founded in 1994. Since that time it has provided sanctuary, education and
opportunity for expression via the performing arts for some of Nairobi’s most
needy children.
Last year I completed the race for the first time and with
the kind generosity of many people was able to raise several thousands of
pounds for Shangilia. The funds have been used to fund two of the children
though university.
If you are able to make a donation, I would be most
grateful. As last year, my company Enchange will also be supporting my
participation and will match donations on a pound for pound basis.
We have chosen JustGiving this year as it is simple, secure
and the most efficient and effective way to donate to Shangilia. Your details
are safe - JustGiving pledge never to sell them or send unwanted emails. Once
you donate, your money will be sent directly to the charity and ensure Gift Aid
is added to every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer.
Thank you so much.
