I am the leader of Mission: Africa - Tanzania 2016, a student team from Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy. Our mission is to go to St. Ignatius primary school in Dodoma, Central Tanzania, East Africa, for 4 weeks this summer from mid June till mid July to volunteer and spend time with the local children and orphans. 

We have 2 main projects:

Project 1: I am going to be a relief teacher to teach Biology. I am going to be teaching the students about the different systems of the human body. I plan to bring some charts and teaching aids over and fascinate them about the subject with experiments and live demonstration. Also I will teach them about the danger of smoking as I believe it is important that the children learn about it at a young age.

Project 2: We want to record the local children choir and produce an album of songs that we can bring back to the UK and sell to raise money to help them out. This will be a sustainable fundraising campaign as the children will be able to benefit from our work even after we finished our mission in Africa. The school is in need of funds to buy more computers for IT lessons.

The process of organising and fundraising for this trip will teach us to live by faith. This has never been done by us before, and we think that working together towards this daring goal will unite us and inspire others. Also this project is a great example to prove for the whole humanity, that even a small donation can help to create huge things.
