Two of the managers here at MacKing.co.uk - Calum + Alex - are embarking on an EPIC adventure down to Naples in Italy in a clapped out 1981 Lancia Beta HPE.
We are doing this as part of an organised banger rally, Staples2Naples (www.staples2naples.com).
Should we make it there (which is definitely a very big SHOULD) we will have done something that no UK second hand mac retailer has done before - but then that's not very surprising is it?
Why are we doing this?
First and foremost, it will be a great laugh. Getting a 1981 Lancia to the shops and back is a big enough challenge, let alone 1,500 miles each way to Naples, Italy.
Secondly, we've got our charitable hat on. Let us not forget that MacKing has already raised nearly £1,500 for Cancer Research UK with the help of our generous customers (http://www.justgiving.com/macking) and we don't want to stop there.
We want to raise £1,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, something we hope with your help, we can achieve.
MND is very close to Alex's heart - he lost his aunt two years ago to the terrible disease and is passionate for any money raised for research to help others in the future.
So in short we are driving a rustbucket down to where it was made. If it makes it back, it will be a miracle.
