Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)

This summer I will be attempting to circle Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe during an intense 10 day trek. By day I'll be hiking (think Bear Grylls but without the live animal eating) and at night I'll be staying in mountain refuge huts (think Swiss Family Robinson, but possibly..not).

As I am not an experienced climber, I will not be attempting the summit and instead, I have chosen one of the most difficult hikes in the area (this trek has been described as being more difficult than the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Peru!) crossing France and Italy where I am aiming to hit a maximum altitude of 2537m before crossing into Switzerland. The walk ranks 5/5 for difficulty and each day will average 6-8 hours of steep climbs and downhill.

I'm multitasking too - I'll be trekking and at the same time I'm fundraising for the National Council for Civil Liberties, a cross party, non-party membership organisation at the heart of the movement for fundamental human rights and freedoms in England and Wales. The Civil Liberties Trust is a registered charity. It has no staff, but commissions Liberty to conduct charitable work on its behalf. Liberty campaigns to protect basic rights and freedoms and promote human rights for everyone.

For the price of your donation, you will get unfettered access to my twitter feed, where I will be updating about sprained ankles, rock attacks, and the glories or dehydrated foods.

You'll also be supporting Liberty who have campaigned for women's rights and against race discrimination since 1934. Liberty has taken on landmark legal cases and campaigned against film censorship.  E.M. Forster was a founding member and they have some pretty impressive supporters too.

So please dig deep and donate now!

Still not sure?

Here are a few more reasons to sponsor me:

* it will be the first time I have not worn make up for 10 consecutive days since being 13 years old

* a challenge to the idea that I am "high maintenance"

* it's a bit nuts, and wouldn't you love to see me do it ?

Many thanks for your support, it's very much appreciated!
