Thank you everyone! Spurred on by your support, we had a great day on July 27th. We started at the top of Twistelton Scar and abseiled down with the cool expertise gained from our 2009 experience, before climbing back up again. We both enjoyed it and quite fancy doing it again – it’s very absorbing both mentally and physically. You have to concentrate hard to work out where you can put your hands and feet, and how to transfer your weight as you move upwards. It felt very special for each of us to be the person who held the rope for the other one (just learned that this is called belaying).
Extra warm thanks to Joyce who came with us to take the pictures, Hodge our encouraging guide, Fran who interviewed us for BCB radio, all Sal’s kind workmates at Merritt Mill and all Maggie’s mum’s carers, as well as all of you dear people who made such generous donations on this page.
Look out for our next year’s adventure -
With love
Maggie and Sal
