On Tuesday 31st August our son Magnus was stillborn. His due date was 20th August but he opted to delay his arrival and sadly died before he could make his appearance.
The medical and emotional care provided by the Stillbirth Unit at Royal Berkshire Hospital was so incredible that it has prompted us to raise as much money as we can for a very worthy cause that is entirely funded by donations.
For parents experiencing the extremely sad prospect of birthing a child that they will never know, the peaceful, calm surroundings of the Stillbirth Unit and the genuine warmth and empathy that the medical staff show can alleviate some of the trauma.
The opportunity provided by the unit to spend as much time as we wanted with Magnus after his birth, has given us some truly valued memories that we will always, always treasure.
