Square foot Snowdon Challenge · 29 March 2014

Ebrahim College was established in 2003 as a Darul Uloom style seminary appropriate for the modern world. The aim was to benefit from the rigour and credibility of the traditional Darul Uloom and, where it was deemed beneficial, merge it with the best in modern curriculum development, pedagogy, technology and research.

Story

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

The best way to better yourself and to have the ability to help others is through education. In any group, nation, organisation we are all fundamentally the messengers for the next generation, so ask yourself this... What have you got that you can pass on?

With the hardship being faced by Muslims in this day and age its easy to think that this is the hardest its been, but really no, its really not. But one key difference from now compared to the beginning of Islam? Prophet Muhammad sallalahu walaihi wa sallaam lives through scriptures, through our words.. How many of us know about his struggles? Know why which section of the Quran came down for which reason? We have a duty to try and learn about this, learn about why we are in this dunya and how we can pass the test of life.

I had the privilege to meet Sheikh Shams Ad Duha Muhammad, who gave me an insight into Ebrahim College and the thing that I took away from his talk was that Ebrahim College shouldn’t be seen as something that is bounded by the shackles of being an institute, rather it should be seen as a movement. A movement to revolutionize the way Islam is being taught in the UK, to bring that level up to such a degree where Islam is soaked into our hearts. Education for ourselves is key to this. Without knowledge our message to the next generation will get lost.

I share the vision with Ebrahim College to spread knowledge to improve this world and more importantly improve our connection with Allah SWT.

It is hard to be a practicing Muslim nowadays where we have a very different culture around us, but this is exactly where institutions like the Ebrahim College are trying to help.

Having come back from Umrah recently, I realized how little I know and that I have an obligation to strive for knowledge.  The Jummah khutbah was a beautiful experience but limited at the same time to my knowledge of the language. I was lucky enough the hear Sheikh Taalib reciting Surah Yusuf during Isha Salah and he couldn’t carry on due to his emotions... Powerful recitation. I did not understand a word.

This is why we need to invest time and money into institutes who take it a step further from just teaching you how to read the Quran and nothing else.  Ins Sha Allah we can all experience the heart trembling words of Allah and know what is being said.

Personally I feel that fundraisers like this is the foundation of all charity work. With intention and knowledge our actions become more meaningful. Just imagine how much more we can do for our Ummah, for our beloved brother and sisters across the globe suffering day in day out, if we had a better understanding of the Quran and sunnah. There are stories coming Syria where the people have lost ALL their families, the young and old, yet they are still worried for the ummah. It is not just the children, the women and men that are being killed off… They are killing off Islam too!

We know from the Seerah that the ummah is in a constant state of degradation, so I ask you to please pray and act on slowing down that process so it will not hit this generation. By the will of Allah, the almighty we can help improve our Islam to improve the Ummah.

So please donate generously and earn the reward of sadaqah jariah, where Ins Sha Allah your rewards will grow continuously as the Ebrahim College does.

It is up to us to build this future for us, our children and our brothers and sisters of Islam.

Jazakallah Khayrun.
