I am delighted to say that the well has been installed and is pumping fresh water into the community which is fantastic news :)
However, it took more work than initially expected and therefore we need to raise more funds. The well has already had an immediate and powerful effect on the community and surrounding neighbours but we really need to ensure this continues. Please dig deep once again for a very worthy cause. We all understand that times are hard at the moment and we each have a financial limit, however please remember, that no matter how hard things are for us it is much much harder for the community of Majimboni and however small a contribution has a massive effect.
For those of you new to the page or who need a refresher on the cause; basically a group of us visited Majimboni, Kenya to volunteer on a community based project. Whilst there we were touched by the wonderful people who showed such grace and kindness with the tough lives they lead. They truly value what they have instead of what they don't have. There is no running water in the village and it was often the responsibility of the children to fetch this from the local river everyday. The minimum journey would take 2km and needed to be fetched before or after school - this is obviously time which could be dedicated to study, play or family time. Which is why we have decided to raise the money to put this important structure in to the community - a lasting gift which will go on to providing for many liftimes to come - impacting everybody's life.
