We are the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma. A preventable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Your generous donations allow us to support people with mesothelioma to live better, longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations.

Story

Chris, Carl, Angela and all the family would like to thank all those who have already donated to Mesothelioma UK (see http://www.mesothelioma.uk.com/mesothelioma-uk-charitable-trust.htm).

Many donations were made at Malc’s f uneral and on Just Giving. Since then his daughter Angela and Niece Gemma have been devoting much of their free time to making, selling hand stitched greetings card as well collecting for the charity. Their beautiful hand stitched cards are a real hit with craft fair, summer show, friends and family. Visit http://www.prickering-cards.co.uk/personalised-cards.html for details and make online orders.

It is now Son, Carl’s turn to step up. He is booked to do a 65 mile cancer charity ride from Reading to Bradford on Avon on Saturday 30 June to raise funds for Mesothelioma UK and a CLIC Sargent, the childhood cancer charity.

Please continue to donate to Prickerings Cards and for Carl’s sponsored ride, directly and via Just Giving. It really means a lot to us and to Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust.

About Malc

Malc Wheatley died at home - exactly where he wanted to be - on the 5 September 2011. He was only sixty-eight years old.

Malc Wheatley was a family man: a lovely, quiet, easy going man who lived for his family... He was the beloved husband of Chris, Dad to Carl and Angela, Grandad to Gemma and Harry, brother in law to Cynthia and Rob and Uncle to Chris, Kaz, Andy and Mark.

Malc was also a loyal friend to many people... and he was so grateful for the many visitors who came to see him when he was ill... even if he was always apologising for not being better company!

His illness:

Malc, Dad was a top, top man; a man who at 15 got a job in the centre of Nottingham, with his football, friends and early cars. He worked on electric elements, making irons, kettles and industrial heating elements. He must have been happy there as he did this from 1958 to 1972. But this was eventually his downfall.

Malc suffered greatly with asbestos cancer, Mesothelioma. I’ve heard it described as the most devastating of cancers. And, so it was for him. But we are all so proud of him and how he was right to the very end. He was so brave, funny and dignified.

And so this Mesothelioma UK Just Giving pages is his and your way of giving a little back and helping a really worthy cause. The charity has been great and they really do need all the help they can get. Cases like Dad’s are still on the rise and this is just the tip of the asbestos iceberg. Please donate in Malc’s name if you can.

A heartfelt thank you from Chris, Carl, Angela and all Malc’s family.
