Katie died in January this year on the very day that I was celebrating my 60th birthday in Leeds. Close friends of Katie and her family, Helen and Fabrizio Falsini, were at my party, and received this devastating news while there. Very bravely they kept this dreadful news to themselves. Afterwards Helen asked me to join the team that will run in Katie's memory at the Cardiff Half Marathon, and I am really proud to do so. With the rest of the team I want to raise money to help find a cure, and stop people like Katie having their lives cut so short in such a tragic way.
