In 2007 I entered the newly resurrected Windermere marathon. I really fancied the idea of running round England’s largest lake as I had already run round Coniston many times before and as both me and Yuk-Lam love the Lake District. Amongst us marathon runners I became aware there were a hand full of extraordinary runners. They were actually running the marathon course for the 10th time in as many days! I couldn’t believe it was even humanly possible. I had immense respect for their achievement and thought they must be almost super human. I went away from Windermere that weekend with the seed planted in my mind.

“Be Inspired” say the Brathay Trust and I think that day I was.

Over the following years I found out that the Windermere marathon was run by the Brathay Trust a charity that helps and supports disadvantaged young people.

They have accepted me to take on their 10 marathons in 10 days challenge for 2011. It runs from Friday 13th May till Sunday 22nd May.

I'm hoping to complete this challenge of a life time and raise the most money I've ever raised for a charity, both at the same time.

The Brathay Trust works with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. It helps them develop the skills, confidence and motivation to make positive choices in their lives.

Their vision is of a society where all children and young people have access to formal and informal education to enable them to fulfil their potential. Brathay's objective is to be the national charity that empowers Young People to make a positive contribution to society.

Follow me on my journey preparing for this challenge and during it through my blog www.malcsblog.net

Please help me raise money for Brathay by sponsoring me.
