Taking a night flight from the UK on the 8th September 2011, I and my son (Sam) will start our journey to attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the World's highest free-standing mountain at 5896 metres (19,341 feet). Summit Day will be on the 15th September and having left Kibo camp at Midnight, this is the steepest and most demanding part of the mountain, it is extremely cold and at this altitude the air is noticeably thin! We are going with an organised company that thankfully include a GP in our tour group along with over 50 sherpas! - Of all those attempt the climb about 25% or more fail due to altitude sickness so I am hoping I am one of the "lucky" ones.
Sam and I are going with a good freind of mine (John) and his son Chris and looking to raise as much money as we can for the Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC) Association. TSC is a complex genetic condition caused by an alteration in a gene and people with TSC have growths in different organs of the body (brain, heart, eyes, skin, kidneys, lungs) and may have epilepsy, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and kidney problems. John has 3 other kids and one of these (Rob) suffers from TSC.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thankyou
