Story
I love my mum. And she has terminal cancer. There is very little I can do. I can't make her better. No one can. But by running, and raising some money I can contribute towards another family NOT having to feel as lost and sad as we feel at the prospect of losing the most important person in our lives.
I'm running to raise money for Weston Park, one of only 3 dedicated cancer hospitals in the UK, and the hospital that mum has to visit every couple of months for treatment that can't cure her, but can and has helped to keep her cancer manageable for as long as possible. Although Weston Park is in Sheffield, it's work is not limited to just helping people in the area, so please don't let the fact that it may not be near you put you off from donating.
If you can help me make a little bit of a difference I would be incredibly grateful. I only started running 6 weeks ago and this will be the first 10k I have ever run. I've set my target low, because I can't afford to donate much money myself and understand how tight money is these days. But anything helps.
I can't run away from mums cancer, but I can run towards a future where another mum doesn't have to phone her children and tell them that she's got cancer and that she won't be getting better.
Thank you!!
Manda
