Mandy and I are raising money for a great charity called the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The Trust has played an extremely significant role in Kenya’s conservation effort since it was founded in 1977, in particular for orphaned elephants and the endangered black rhino.

 

So far this year they have been called upon more times than in the last two years combined to help with orphaned elephant rescues - possibly due to the legalised sale of ivory to China last year, which has re-opened the floodgates for the illegal ivory trade.  Other key factors include a drought in Northern Kenya and human encroachment into protected areas, with cattle competing with wildlife for resources.

 

Most immediately, what this influx of orphans means is that the Trust needs more money for rescues, life saving medicines, natural remedies, milk and accommodation - so please help us to help them...
