Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

Well, I did it!

Braved the chilly waves of Alton Water in Suffolk on 19 June. Proper outdoor swimming in a wetsuit! A bit different from 20 lengths in a nice warm pool...

So, why do it? Well, imagine being rejected by your family when you're as young as 16 - just because you're lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans. Albert Kennedy Trust helps young people to rebuild their lives:

"AKT really got me out of my pit of despair. They gave me the light to see the potential in myself and become independent." Malichi, 18.

It's not just about a safe place to live. It's about getting your life back on track. I'm proud to be involved with AKT. It's a fantastic charity which relies heavily on the generosity of individual donors, so please join in.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. They’ll never sell your details on, or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to AKT and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed.
