RSPCA Cambridge is a local branch of the National RSPCA and provides animal welfare services, including a charity clinic and pet rehoming in South Cambridgeshire, Newmarket and Royston. See http://www.rspca-cambridge.org.uk and http://rspca-cambridge.blogspot.com for more details.

Story

Muppet was picked up as a stray, tested positive for FIV and was sent to put to sleep despite being a fit and healthy tom. The vet refused to do this but not all do this. He spent a few weeks in a vets cage until he was found a home with a foster and found me. He just needed some TLC and worming to make him healthy. It some became apparent that he had some allergies which were treated with diet and de-fleaing. Later he would develop inflammatory bowel disease and was successfully made well with medication. He spent 2 happy healthy years and was a bit daft so Leo became muppet. When the FIV took hold he got sick with prompt treatment he would recover. After 3 and half years with me he developed undiagnosed bowel cancer and this spread to his brain. He was put to sleep. Even when ill he loved fuss and cuddles.

Not all FIV cat's have such a sad outcome many have a full life. Neuturing especially males would prevent the fighting and mating that leads to FIV.

In Muppet's memory I would like to raise funds for the charities that work on neuturing cat's and finding homes for them saving them from being pts.
