Thanks you very much for your donation!
Over the last 9 years I have completed the Race for Life and raised hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research. Since I was a child my ambition has been to complete the London Marathon and at the age of 40 I have been given this fantastic opportunity.
Why Cancer Reaserch you may ask?
I am not the only person who has family and friends who have suffered from this terrible disease but I would just like to share my cousin Melanie’s story with you (who is very dear to me) which has given me the strength and determination to push myself to the extreme and complete the 26.2 miles London Marathon
Mels Story:
I was diagnosed on 18th July 2007 (hubsands B'day!) I had to go home & tell him by myself which was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, the next hardest thing was to tell my parents, family & friends
I went through chemotherapy, two operations between December & beginning of Jan 08.
I then fell seriuosly ill with hypercalcalceamia. I spent 4 - 6months in & out of hospital.
I was then diagnosed with liver cancer Mar/Apr 08! I spent the next few months with more chemotherapy, scans & liver biopsy's.
I was then told July 08 that they could not find any signs of the cancer in my liver! So I was techniquily un-diagnosed....
I lived life to the full the next few months.
But then started to fall ill agian in March 09. I suffered from intense headaches. I was taken to A & E where they diagnosed with a Cerebal Brain tumour, 3wks later I had an operation to have it removed. Lucky for me the tumour had not attached to the brain so the surgeon was able to move all of it.
I then had 3wks of intense radiotherapy to the head. I had a ct scan not long after the radiotherapy that showed no signs of cancer in my body.
10wks later I was admitted into A & E with hypercalceamia again, I spent 2 months in & out of hospital. I had a CT scan which showed I had Lung Cancer & suspected Liver cancer.
I was devastated as I felt that I was never going to be well or free of this terrible disease. At this point I wanted to die so that I didn’t have not put my family through any more! My husband, my beautiful son & daughter, my mum, dad & family & friends. I felt that I could not cope anymore!
But some how I managed to find the strength to picked myself up - I am determined that I will fight this horrible disease & that I will NOT let it beat me! I have been fighting for 2 1/2 years now & I will fight for many many more years yet!
I am at present doing really well, I am yet again on IV chemotherapy as well as a tablet form of chempotherapy & herceptin. I am still smiling, still living life to full & enjoying my family & friends!
Now I need your help, please would you sponsor me?
