Brentwood Half Marathon 2014 · 23 March 2014 ·

Every week in the UK, around two families are told their child has neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. We fund leading research projects to deliver new, effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. With your help we can save more young lives.

Story

We we're asked by my friend Vikki if we would like to join her and others in a half marathon to help raise vital funds for The Neuroblastoma Charity. Neither Mark or I run but after reading the story of little Lily we decided that anything is possible. Please read for yourself and if you can help with a small donation you too have made a difference.

Lily's Story.................

Lily was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 20 months old in August 2013. It is a rare, aggressive type of cancer, affecting only 100 children a year in the UK and early detection is paramount to successful treatment. Symptoms are similar to many common childhood illnesses which means it is often misdiagnosed. It was the persistence of Lily's parents with the doctors that has literally saved Lily's life; it has hopefully been caught early enough to treat successfully. By running the marathon we are hoping to raise awareness of this awful disease.
