My story

A little detail about what I am raising the money for:

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a neuromuscular condition caused by the lack of a protein called dystrophin. About 100 boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy are born in the United Kingdom each year. There are about 2500 known boys with the disorder living in the UK at any one time.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a serious condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. In Duchenne muscular dystrophy muscle fibres break down and are replaced by fibrous and or fatty tissue causing the muscle to gradually weaken.

As many of you know Mindi suffered from this. He was a little brother to me. This is my way of trying to raise funds and awareness for the support group that helped us to cope everyday and are still supporting us with our bereavement.

The DFSG is a national charity run by families for families affected by Duchenne. It provides a positive national support network of parents, their families and professionals and the DFSG helps bring families together for mutual support, sharing of information and experience, and social activities. Mindi used to really enjoy these holidays and events, and I would like to be able to ensure that other boys and their families continue to get this support.
