Story

My Journey

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Ride4Peace page.

On Sunday, 1st June 2014, I'm taking on the tremendous challenge of cycling over 601 miles and climbing 35,000 feet from Glasgow to London to raise awareness for Peace and also money for two amazing charities. This challenge cycle ride is 100 miles a day for 6 days and last leg of the ride is 23 miles in London with hundreds of other cyclists to finish on Saturday 7th of June.

In the year 1913 the most dynamic and progressive Muslim community was established in the UK with the arrival of the first missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

In the past 100 years this passionate and magnetic community has gone from strength to strength with over 30 mosques and mission houses now established in the UK and more than 40 thousand members who preach loyalty, peace, tolerance, and respect.

Centenary Bicycle Ride for Peace is the flagship charity event forCentenary Celebrations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK. The ride will be held from Sunday 1st June 2014 to Saturday 7th June 2014.The Ride4Peace will take me through: Glasgow - Hartlepool - North Yorkshire - Sheffield - Manchester - Birmingham - Oxford- Middlesex - London and Surrey.

I am raising money via Charity MKA UK for

  1. Humanity First; http://uk.humanityfirst.org
  2. British Heart Foundation; http://www.bhf.org.uk

All proceeds will be split equally between both these worthy organizations.

I started my training in late March and since then I have started commuting by bicycle to work. I am doing cycle training rides on weekend to get ready for this epic challenge amounting to one third of the distance and time of the Tour de France cycle race.

In April I bought a road bike and I am training as much as I possibly can. It is very tough sometimes, especially with the UK weather - rain, wind and cold.

I am not an athlete, neither a cyclist nor I will win a gold medal. But by getting on my bike and pushing myself to my absolute limits, I believe that I can do something very good and make a difference. I am looking forward for your support in sponsoring and raising the money for these charities.

I hope you can be a part of my journey by sponsoring me. As a team we are looking to raise £30,000 and as an individual I am aiming to raise £1,000.

Thank you.

A small introduction of two charities:

Humanity First

http://uk.humanityfirst.org (UK Charity Number 1149693) Our Brief History

Humanity First is registered in 41 countries across 6 continents, and has been working on human development projects and responding to disasters since 1994.

These have included the earthquakes in Turkey, Pakistan, Japan and Iran, floods in Africa and Latin America, storms and tsunamis in the USA, Indonesia and Bangladesh, and conflicts in Eastern Europe.

Over 93% of donated funds are spent directly on aid projects. With the majority of our labour including skilled engineers and clinicians being volunteers along with preferential rates for materials benefiting from global sourcing, Humanity First is often able to deliver a value of aid many times the value of donations provided.

British Heart Foundation

http://www.bhf.org.uk  (UK Charity Number 225971)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTv2BeBTx7M

We are the UK's number one heart charity and through 50 years of funding cutting edge research we have already made a big difference to people's lives.

Our vision is a world where people don't die prematurely from heart disease. Our new strategy will give us powerful focus in our fight for every heartbeat, and enable us to lead the fight against cardiovascular disease more effectively.

But the landscape of heart disease is changing. More people survive a heart attack or cardiac arrest than ever before, and that means more people are now living with heart disease and need our help.

We'll continue the fight through our pioneering heart research, vital prevention and survival activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.
