Apparently... you are not a "real Londoner" until you've run the London Marathon.
Clearly, I have left it a little late having lived in this amazing city for over 5 years now but what better year than 2012 for me to earn my stripes!
OLYMPICS... GOLDEN JUBILEE... ME!
Now I can't promise you an extra bank holiday but I can help you work on your new year's karma if you sponsor my efforts to conquer the mammoth 26 mile route.
Action Against Hunger UK is an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. Recognised as a leader in the fight against malnutrition, Action Against Hunger saves the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger.
As an example of what your money could go towards:
£10 can buy one week's supply of therapeutic milk, nutritional products, vitamins and medicine for a child
£27 can buy 1 complete survival kit, necessary to save the life of a severely malnourished child in less than 4 weeks
£36 can buy 1 mechanical surface water pump
In 2011, nearly 550,000 people have been supported by ACF teams across East Africa in response to the devastating hunger crisis.
In Pakistan, hundreds of thousands of flood-affected people have begun to leave displacement camps, and Action Against Hunger's teams are providing nutrition support and distributions of staple foods. So far, ACF has provided 49,000 displaced individuals with basic staples in October, along with micronutrient-rich supplemental Plumpy’sup for moderately malnourished children.
